Locksmith in Beverley Acres, OntarioSticking lock?Worn key? Sorted.

A key that needs jiggling, a bolt that only throws when you lift the handle, a cylinder that spins loose in the door. These are small annoyances in Beverley Acres homes that become lockouts if ignored. We tune, rebuild or swap the part at fault and leave the door working like it did when it was new. We also come out to Headford.

Locksmith services

Our services at a glance

Every lock service we provide in Beverley Acres starts with the same first step, which is looking at the door properly before deciding anything. The individual pages below explain what that look involves for each job, how the work is carried out, and what to expect from the hardware afterwards.

Commercial

Commercial Locks

Business owners usually want two things from us: to know exactly who can open which door, and to stop worrying about it. The services here, from rekeying to full access control, are different ways of getting to that point.

Lockouts

Lockout Services

A door that refuses to open is one problem; a door that refuses to close is another, and often the more pressing one. The emergency pages cover both, including temporary bracing and board-up when the frame or glass needs a proper repair later.

Book a visit to your door in Beverley Acres

In Beverley Acres we think about how a door is actually used before choosing hardware. A back door staff prop open needs a different answer than a front door a family uses twice a day. A side entry for a teenager who forgets keys may want a keypad. We ask those questions first, then match the lock to the habit.

2021 census · what it means at the door

  • 15%Newer homes

About 15% of homes in Richmond Hill were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.

Recent builds often have steel or fibreglass entry doors rather than solid wood. They resist warping and take hardware well, and a locksmith fitting a deadbolt or reinforced strike works with the door's construction so screws bite into something solid.

  • 57%

Single-detached houses make up about 57% of homes in Richmond Hill (2021 Census).

A mix of detached and attached housing means a mix of key habits: spare keys under pots at houses, fob-and-key combinations in buildings. A locksmith can improve both, with a proper key safe or keypad here and a tidy suite cylinder there.

Lock Replacement & Upgrade

Someone tried the back door while you were away. The jamb is splintered around the strike, the bolt is bent, and the knob turns with a grinding feel. Everything held, barely, and you want hardware that would do better next time.

Should I rekey my locks or replace them?

Rekey when the hardware is sound and the problem is the key: a lost copy, a move, or too many keys for one house. Replace when the mechanism itself is worn, the housing or bolt is damaged, the grade was never suitable for the entrance, or you want a different function, finish or a keypad. Many visits do both, keeping good locks and rekeying them while replacing the tired ones, all to one key.

If the lock gets replaced, can the existing intercom or buzzer stay?

In most cases, yes. The buzzer, keypad and intercom are generally separate from the mechanical lock or cylinder, so replacing the lock itself does not usually mean replacing the electronic side too. Where the two are connected, such as an electric strike wired to the same frame as a new mechanical lock, the locksmith checks the fit and wiring before starting so the electronic system keeps working once the new hardware is in place. Anything that would need to change is explained beforehand.

What are the hardware grades I see on the packaging?

Locks and deadbolts are tested against industry standards for security, durability and finish. Commercial hardware is graded 1, 2 or 3 with grade 1 the highest. Residential hardware carries a letter label for each of the three categories, from C for good through B to A for the top level. Security tests include hammer blows and pulling on the lock; durability covers cycle life and seasonal misalignment; finish covers salt, humidity and scratching. Your locksmith translates the label for your door.

What information should we have ready before the visit?

It helps to know which doors should be controlled, roughly how many people will need a credential, whether any of those doors are also fire exits, and who in the business will administer the system afterward. A floor plan or a walk-through on site fills in anything easier to show than describe, and neither is required in advance.

Do you replace hardware after an attempted break-in even if the door still locks?

Yes, and it is worth having it checked even when the door still appears to function. A cylinder that was drilled at, pried or struck can be weakened internally without showing it externally, and a bent strike or a cracked frame around the lock can let a door appear locked while offering far less resistance than it should.
